MISC: THE FAMOUS RAINBOW RECIPE BOOK

Once in a while, you come up with something that raises the eternal question- "What the f*ck??"

I think this is definitely one of those items. The book pictured at left, The Famous Rainbow Recipe Book features recipes contributed by various celebrities, and the proceeds from the book go to the Rainbow Centre, so it's a good cause and all that.

The book itself was compiled (as you can see on the cover) by Tony Head . . . aka Anthony Stewart Head ("Giles" on Buffy the Vampire Slayer as well as a well-known stage Frank-N-Furter.)

"Give us Head! Give us Head!"

If you weren't at the 25th RHPS convention, don't bother scratching your head in confusion- you won't get it.

Anyway. Among the celebrities that contributed recipes for this book was our very own Richard O'Brien. Richard has said in the past that he does do some light cooking- his favorite dish to cook is a leg of lamb with garlic- and he makes grilled cheese and all sorts of other "quickies".

But the question remains- what culinary masterpiece did Richard offer for this opus?

You asked for it:

Burnt Toast avec Marmite
Ingredients: Bread, Marmite.
Directions: First, burn the toast - then spread with butter and marmite. Mmmmmmm!! Delicious.

Sounds difficult to make. If any of our viewers at home master this recipe, be sure to send along those helpful tips so we can share them with the world. </sarcasm>

I think I like the title the best out of the whole thing. It just goes to show you that French can make ANYTHING sound exotic. Even burnt toast.
