Like other members of the original stage cast who went on to play in the film,
Tim remains a strong favorite among fans. In the radiomentary, contrary to
what many have said concerning his attitudes about the film, he was kind
and articulate and told some cool stories. So without further delay, this one's for all you Timbos out there.
Tim discusses how he originally viewed the character of Frank.
Tim: And I read Frankenfurter as a sort of German Horror kind of person. Sort
of Frankensteen, really. And I think . . . was doing that for the first week or so of
rehearsal
Tim: I lived at the time in a tiny little flat above the Speed Queen Laundrette
in Paddington Street. And there was this sort of funky Victorian gym about
four doors away. And I met Richard O'Brien in the street one day, we knew
each other because he'd been in the touring company of Hair, and he was
coming out of the gym and I said "What're you doing here" and he said "I'm
looking for musclemen for my new musical" hea said- "In fact- you should
audition for it"
Tim: The brilliance of Richard
RO'B: Tim Curry.
Tim: Really, was to combine all of his obsessions. Which were: 50's rock-n-
roll, 50's comics, horror movies, and Pop Art. And a very potent mix they
proved to be.
