MISC: RICHARD READS GHOST STORIES

A very popular thing these days for the "literate person on the go" is Audio Books. You don't have to read, or even put much effort forth whatsoever- you just listen.

Richard lent his voice to the reading of True Ghost Stories by JH Brennan. Though the tape has since gone out of print, you can still manage to find a copy if you show enough effort to do so. (and thanks to Ruth for letting me know she was eventually able to find it)

The stories are interesting enough if you like a good ghost story, but incredibly listenable even if you don't, thanks to the reader. Richard dips his voice low about every two seconds. The downside is the infernal repetetive waterdrop noises and the background music, which manages to make any 80's synthesized horror music sound like Wagner.

Some Audio Clips:

  1. Introduction
  2. The Most Haunted House in Britain (segment)

And just for a bit of fun . . . does an entire tape of Richard speaking hold some incredibly frightening message when played backwards? Well, no. But I did notice this- it sounds like he says "Look, I've lit candles my love"

A need a new hobby I think . . .
