THE REVENGE OF THE OLD QUEEN

The Revenge Of The Old Queen is the proposed script by Richard O'Brien for the sequel to the Rocky Horror Picture Show. Before the invention of the internet, and attachable files, this script would most likely have been reserved to the die-hard collectors' shelf. But now it seems that anyone can get it- either through web pages, or someone that has it. This has caused a great deal of confusion among fans about the script, it's contents, etc.
The script for ROTOQ first surfaced over a year ago, and was circulated electronically to all eager hands that wanted it. This of course raised the question of the sequel becoming a reality, ROTOQ until that point being a rumor. A tale mother's tell their young RH fans before tucking them in at night.
Many of the characters from Rocky Horror make reappearances. We're also introduced to some newer faces.
Now, at this point, you're probably saying to yourself if you've seen this page before :
"Hey, self" which is, by the way, a very silly thing to say to one's self "how come there aren't any links to the script like there used to be?"
There's a very simple reason for that. I do not support this script. And by having links on this ppage, apparently, some folks seem to think that I do.
Wrong.
To make this point more obvious, I have taken down any reference to the script whatsoever. If you want it, this isn't the place to look.
No.
Richard O'Brien created Rocky Horror over twenty years ago. I doubt that he ever imagined the little "experiment" of a play to get as far, do as much, or retain the popularity it has over the years. But for myself, if this film were to be made, the only way for it to be any GOOD, would be with Richard's FULL support, which he hasn't given.
And why question that? Let's remember who wrote it. I would think that if anyone were to write or create anything that they did not want made available for public consumption, that right should be respected. Not because he's Richard O'Brien, but because it's common courtesy.
Earlier this year, Richard attended a Science Fiction Convention in New York City. At that convention, the subject of ROTOQ and the possibility of the film seeing the light of day was brought up.
Richard replied that he felt that Rocky Horror was like a fairy tale, and it had a beginning, a middle, and an end. No more needs to be done to it, and if it were, it would become a soap opera, which he does not want.
Recently, we ("we" here is meant to represent the On-Line Rocky Commmunity) have been arguing back and forth over this particular subject. A fellow who called himself simply "Puffin" went in my opinion, far, far off the deep end and began making claims he refused to support and even went so far as to announce a convention- one of the attractions said to be sections of the script performed by "local actors".
Well, recently (Dec. 16th, to be exact) He took down his fan page, and declared the convention a no-go.
He claims it is due to information he recieved from a call from Los Angeles. Who knows. Maybe he did push the issue so much that someone called him up and said "Hey, we'll look into it. Just shut up already"- I don't know. I'm quite happy that this all seems to be over and done with, at least for the time being. Too much arguing can make you nauseous.
Ok, you got me. It's not a movie, but I didn't know where else to stick it. And before you decide to, you can refrain from e-mailing me suggestions. :)
