The entire point of the game. The Crystal Dome is just as it sounds- a large geodesic dome. It is filled with gold and silver certificates. When the team has completed all four zones, they take the Crystals they have won to the Crystal Dome. The Crystals are then set on a board, controlled by Richard.

The team is sent into the Dome, where they are instructed to wait for Richard's signal. He first signals the drawbridge to be raised, shutting them inside. Then the fans are started, and the certificates begind to fly around the contestants' heads. Richard then blows a whistle to signal the team to begin.

They need to collect one hundred gold certificates in order to win the big prize. Any silver collected is deducted from their gold total. In the later series, two graphs were provided at the side of the screen so the viewers at home could keep track of the total of each type of certificate as the contestants were playing.

As each increment of five seconds expires, the Crystal, which is lighted on Richard's control panel, goes out. When the time is up, the fans stop and he again blows the whistle. The certificates are counted and the team is awarded the prize they won (if any). Consolation prizes were a statuette that said "I Cracked the Crystal Maze".
